If you don’t already know, I’m a big fan of Osiris, they are my favourite skate shoes and I’ve just had two more new styles arrive for you to check out…
Osiris Merk II priced at £54.99

Nucleus stocks a good range of skate shoes from Osiris and is continually adding to the range.
Now this is interesting. I’ve recently read about a Californian school, Fillmore Middle School, that has introduced skateboarding to their P.E. curriculum. In an attempt to stem the increase in obesity amongst it’s pupils the school claims that the programme has been a roaring success.
They are not the only ones to introduce classes in skateboarding, according to officials (not mentioned in the press release) there are schools in 10 other states that have done the same. And, this isn’t just an American trend - Barnstable school, in Devon, right here in the UK has done it too, you can read more about it here.
Personally, I think this is a great innovation and a change that I would have been frothing over when I was in school (I was obsessed with skating in those days). Football and rugby were never my thing and the whole of the skater fraternity that I was involved with remember those days as being outcasts when it came to ‘mainstream’ sports - skating appears to be mainstream now, and accepted.
I fully support anyone who is promoting this idea for our schools in the UK, what’s your take on it? The way the damn health and safety squad are going this must be sending shivers up and down their spines. Pupils who already skate are going to skate either in school or out of school, which do you think would be the safer environment?
I would love to hear your opinion on this. Post your comments below.

DC Shoe Co. have recently release a new website documenting, by video, skateboarding around the world. I took a look at it earlier today, I had to download an install the newest version of Flash (version 9 I think it was).
In its basic form it’s just another website promoting the DC brand - but I like it, I can watch sick skateboarding whenever I need a fix (there’s a Podcast too).
Make sure you check it out - http://www.dcskateboard.tv

It seems to me that every once in a while a good number of my friends, completely independent of each-other, end up doing something stupid. At the moment this stupid activity is skateboarding. I’m now 29 and after a moment of madness last year I snagged a deal on a long-board skateboard because I thought it would be cool to get back into skating again. It lasted about a week before I hurt myself.
It’s this pattern that seems to be repeating itself with greater an greater frequency; my brother did the same and broke his arm. One of the guys at JP Surfboards has recently broken his shoulder. And a handful of other friends with various scrapes an bruises have announced their final retirement from skateboarding. The common phrase being “I’m too old to skate anymore - it’s for kids”.
But it clearly isn’t “just for the kids”. There are plenty of old timers still active in the sport, just think of Tony Hawk, and some of them are still pushing boundaries over and over again. So it can’t simply be that we get to old to skate. Perhaps it’s just that we’ve forgotten what it’s like to learn how to skate in the first place, which is effectively what we have to do after a 10 years off. Is it that broken limbs just aren’t that cool once you leave school to get a job, or worse - responsibility (in any of its guises).
Needless to say that I still look on with envy, at the kids in skate parks, as I pass by wondering weather I’ve still got it - well I know I don’t still have it and the pain in my shoulder reminds me (a re-aggravated dislocation). It’s been so long now that I can’t even remember the events that left those scars on my elbows and knees - you know, the ones that were once so fondly recounted at every opportunity.
Anyway, this is a thanks to all of you how still can and still skate regularly, with all the amplitude of any young’un. It proves that we still can just so long as we stuck with it. Any of you reading this with a thought on this topic are invited to comment below - Are you too old to skate?
Liking the look of a particular pair of board shorts is an obvious start point. But, once you’ve found pair of boardies you like the look of, how do you work out which ones are the best board shorts?
During the summer, I pretty much live in my board shorts, I wear them everywhere and consequently, I wear them out. I’ve gone through many different board shorts and have my favourites but these are the features I like most in my boardies: Read the rest of this entry »

I was first introduced to Skullcandy headphones by some friends. They are now distributors for Skullcandy in the UK, but at the time they were still evaluating the product. Since then, I’ve grown into a loyal fan and fully support; the headphones, the brand, the image and the company behind it all. This will undoubtedly make me biased but I will try and give an objective overview.
Skullcandy is now one of the hottest new brands in the Action Sports industry and the popularity of the headphones in the UK in the last year has been astronomic. This is not my opinion, nor is it the opinion of the sales people behind the brand. Feedback from the shops that stock the headphones and from customers who use them points me to this. Anyway, I wanted to tell you as much as I can about Skullcandy headphones without blatently pitching a sale. I will touch on the quality of these headphone, the campatibility with mp3 players and mobile phones including some exciting innovations that separate Skullcandy from the rest. Realm, a core surf brand that started back in 1997 focusing solely on surf fashion and lifestyle. Realm is probably better know round these parts for their wetsuits as opposed to their clothing but, like their wetsuits, the clothes are made from top quality materials. Personally, this is one of my favourite brands - if not ‘the favourite’ brand in my closet.
Realm designs are classic and timeless and suit me perfectly. The clothes are not extravagant but the quality is what separates them from the pack (as well as the very competitive prices). For top value surf wear this is the brand you should be looking at. With roots firmly planted in the surf lifestyle, and their continued focus on surf fashion “created for surfers, by surfers” I am comfortable with this brand.
The Realm logo of three cresting waves is supposed to represent the unison of the three major oceans, and quite frankly, I like it.
“The three cresting waves of The Realm’s tri-wave logo represent the Saltwater Fusion of the surf lifestyle in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Our history and heritage comes from the beach and the life of being a surfer. The Realm designs reveal themselves to the true surfer in everyone. ”
For more about realm, you can checkout the realm website. And on our website you can see the Spring/Summer 2008 range of Realm Clothing.
Are you a fan of Realm? Have they hit the mark again this season or have you lost faith in this brand. Discuss this below in the comments.
DC Skate Shoes are a staple for most skaters, they consistently delivery high quality shoes, great designs and a wide range. This season is no exception. For the men, the Court Graffik is still going strong and is back again in some great new colourways so make sure you check those out, here you can see all the new mens DC Shoes and Clothes. Time, as always, is very short today, so this is going to be a short post - I’m eagerly awaiting another drop of gear any minute now. Stay tuned for an update on that in the next day or so.
DC Ladies skate shoes also arrived, we haven’t had the full range yet so I don’t want you rushing in on the few we have. Between you and me, there are lots nicer ones on the way. That said, there are some hot new hoodies and t shirts to get stuck into. I particularly like the ladies DC Rock Box hoody.
